I returned home after three 95 degree days to find my 96 850 SR drive shift stuck. I used shift overide button which solved problem, but a noise started under hood. It goes away after shifting into reverse or drive, but returns in neutral. Also, turn signal, electric windows, A/C and other electrical functions are not working. Shift lock is necessary each time I start car and electrical functions have not returned.

You have a ground problem. First, check the battery connections. Next, check the noise if it does it at idle, something might be loose and be the source of the problem.

IGNITION SWITCH! for the electrical things/shiftlock override. Move your key slightly once the car starts; the lights/shiftlock should start working. mine acts up particularly on hot days.
