O.K., I hacksawed my way thru my damn glove box and now wonder if anyone has some OE part numbers for me? Or at least which part(s) I need to replace.
I hacked thru that little u shaped piece of hardware so obviously I will need that.

    The latch is pn 6818224. The latch brace is pn 6818223.

      Thaks Ozark for your response. Can you help me one step further by telling me maybe which of these two parts (the latch or latch brace) would be considered the "U" shaped hook. This "U" shaped hook is what I sawed thru and nothing else was damaged.

        Wooah! Just got a quote from FCP Groton on the two p/n's.
        6818224= $70
        6818223= $5

        Sure hope it's the $5 part I need.

          The U shaped catch is the brace but you will either need to buy both the latch and the brace or you will need to repair the latch. You can repair the latch with a small machine screw. There was a good writeup with pictures but the site that was hosting the pictures went away.

          If you do decide to just order a new latch give either Jamie or Don a call at Darrell Waltrip Volvo. (800) 689-0021. They are typically 30 to 40% less than other vendors on OEM parts.
