Hello! My 95 850 was running fine Saturday, then I went to start it again, and turned the key, only heard a loud click, and the car went dead. Checked battery, it is good, less than year old. Thought maybe starter/solenoid was bad, replaced it, still have same situation. I only get one cycle of trying to start the car, once key goes to start, lights go out, loud click from engine compartment, and then no power. Only resets when I remove battery terminals and reconnect, then get one shot. Sounds like a relay maybe? Car had no start issues before, ever. Any help appreciated!! Thanks!

Not turning over at all? Must be electrical. The gear position sensor may kill the engine if it goes bad and may also prevent a restart. Are you getting any dummy lights?

The other thing that happened with my 850 is that the fuel system would loose presure if I parked it on a steap upslope or if I moved the car from my driveway to the garage and left it on vacation or something. I would usually have to turn the car over for a minute or two to get the system to pressurize enough to start. Your issue sounds different but this is also something to be aware of.

If your able, pull the starter back out and run it down to Auto Zone or Napa. They can check it for you. Used ones on ebay are cheap and good.

Recheck the battery. I've had batteries test good until loaded. Also check the ground cable at the body.
