850 no start - turn key, then click - car goes dead 850

Hello! My 95 850 was running fine Saturday, then I went to start it again, and turned the key, only heard a loud click, and the car went dead. Checked battery, it is good, less than year old. Thought maybe starter/solenoid was bad, replaced it, still have same situation. I only get one cycle of trying to start the car, once key goes to start, lights go out, loud click from engine compartment, and then no power. Only resets when I remove battery terminals and reconnect, then get one shot. Sounds like a relay maybe? Car had no start issues before, ever. Any help appreciated!! Thanks!
