Timing Belt failure = engine failure? S40-V40 2001

I am selling my sister's fancy 2001 S40 Turbo for her, and to my knowledge (which isn't good on this car's history) the timing belt has not been replaced (it has 95,000 miles).

Does anyone know that if the timing belt breaks, it will destroy the engine? Or is this a scary thing that the dealership might tell an uninformed gal like my sister (okay, okay, me too in this case!) to drum up a little business?

ANSWER Timing Belt failure = engine failure? S40-V40 2001

Timing belt is scheduled for 105K or 10 years. It is due, along with the mechanical tensioner.
This is an interference engine, if the belt breaks then the valves are toast.
