Clearing OBD code S70 1998

I have a P0440 CEL code. I replaced cracked hose which I think triggered this error. If I clear the code with OBD scanner, will ir erase everything in computer memory, of just error P0440??? Will I have enough information in the computer to go through emission testing procedure?

Scanners only reset the codes, not the entire computer which happens when someone disconnects the battery for a few minutes.

If you fixed the P0440, then the code should go away on its own after a few drive cycles.

If the light comes back on, I suggest you cheat:

Get the engine nice and warm, reset the code, and immediately go to your testing station.

Thanks Klaus. You made me chuckle...But, that may be an option.
I HATE CEL. They will get set for the most insignificant thing, yet major type of mechanical issues or problems will not trigger it. Engine could be running on half cylinders, timing could be way off, water pump squeaking and leaking, engine overheating and making all kinds of noises, and NO CEL. But, if the gas cap is not on tight, you'll get CEL, and fail emissions test. If this isn't insult to someone's intelligence, I don't know what is. Now...where is that cold beer, or - six...
