Mass Air flow sensor died 850 1997

My wife's 96 850's MAF sensor died March 09 and I put my sensor from my 97 on her car so I could get her car back on the road. I got a new sensor from NAPA and it lasted a week on her car. Again my senor on her car. After I returned the sensor( long story), I ordered another one online. The new sensor went on my car. Well today the 15 month old senor died. I checked for MAF sensors from different sources ranging from $125(Autozone) to $225 with all having 1 year warranty. Does anyone have luck with one lasting more than 15 months and from from where. I can get one with a life time warranty from FCP if I pay $170 + 10%. Thanks for the help.

Mass Air flow sensor died 850 1997

There have been many similar stories about aftermarket sensors dying early or not even working more than a day or two. Fixit is correct about blocking the warm air intake on the NA engines.

For a really good price on OEM parts, call Daryl Waltrip Volvo in Tennessee and ask about their price. Mention Brickboard and you may get an additional 10% off.

Your air filter box temp sensor may be defective and not closing off the heated air. Constant heated air going through the MAS will affect the mixture and shorten it's life. Remove the temp sensor unit and jam the flap so it draws non heated air all the time.
