Site to determine build date / location??? S70 99

I am looking for a website where I can plug in my VIN and determine build date, build location, any other useful information.

Re: Site to determine build date / location??? S70 99

To find out where the car was built, you must look at the 7th number FROM THE END, on your VIN plate/sticker.

If it is a "1", then your car was built in Torslanda, Sweden. If it is a "2" then it was in Ghent, Belgium. If it was "3" (I seriously doubt it) then at Halifax, Nova Scotia.

If you look in the archives here, I did post (many months ago) a full table where you can decipher all the info that a VIn can give you (engine type, model type, transmission type, emmissions, etc.).

Yes, some 1993/94/95/96 and a few 97s were assembled in Halifax. I do not think any S/V70s ever were.

The Halifax plant did not built cars; Volvo shipped the parts in kits and tey were put together at that plant (along with quite a few 940s!).

Build date is printed on the sticker inside the drivers side door.
