96 855 Strut Bearings ripping apart less than 10 months?

Hello All,

I replaced suspension all around last fall...


everything sorted out nicely, but after a few months I had the feeling that the struts were not as stable giving the car a weak kneed feeling over time.

Turns out the rubber was slowly or not so slowly ripping away from the bushing.
The right went first, the left went two days later.

I made sure to buy the best part available and not the usual suspect discount parts bought through FCP...

Are the really supposed to fail so soon? I don't want to have to do this job every few months. Any solutions to longevity or suggestions welcome!

    Definitely buy the OEM versions, but buy the ones for the XC90. This advice is widely available and easily found with a search on this forum and others.

    The other option is to buy IPD's HD spring mount which is also of much higher quality than the original S70/V70 version.

    Additionally, if you buy the XC90 version from FCP they will sell you a lifetime warranty for 10%. It's free if it's installed buy a certified tech.
