1998 XC70 Trailing Arm Bushings Replacement

Anyone ever replace these? The forwardmost trailing arm bushings on my 98 xc70 have disintegrated, and I get a loud clunk whenever going from forward to reverse, or vice versa. I have found interestingly that the part number looks to be that of the 240 bushings. That would make this the only part that fits a Volvo from 1964 to 1998, or so I believe(the rear bushing carries the 740 PN).
Anyway, I am not sure how bad of a job this is? I was told by someone that is is a Very difficult and time consuming job? Anyone have any insight?
Thanks

I have no advice for you right now, but if I remember I will have a look in VADIS when I'm home tonight.

I'd be interested to know your testing procedure. Is it a 'pry' test or are you looking only at the condition of the bushing from a visual inspection?

The bushing I need to replace looks like part 21 in the diagram. It looks simple enough in the pic to replace, but I am told it requires a large amount of disassembly to replace it?

Unfortunatley I dont need to test it. The bushing has disintegrated to the point that I get a very loud "thunk" from the metal to metal contact every time I go from forward to reverse, or vice versa. It is embarrassing when in a parking lot because everyone looks at me like I backed into a car or pole.

I didn't find much in VADIS. Perhaps you can tell me what parts you're looking to replace from this diagram and I can have a more focused search in there...

Checking to see if anyone has experience with disassembly of the rear suspension. What is necessary to take apart to replace the bushing that is part# 21 in the diagram? Any help would be appreciated.

I am sorry I did not get back to you earlier. I did actually dig up the corresponding documents in VADIS, but they don't seem that helpful to me. Immediately I noticed they are recommending a small hydraulic press to remove the bushings on the other end of the stay arm...

I posted the files on MVS because they have a good file attachment mechanism.

Hello woodstock, did you ever get this done? I'm currently chasing down a pretty similar problem and I would love to have your advice.
