Battery discharges in 36 hours 850

My 850 battery will go from 100% to a no start/barely turnover situation in a day or so if not driven. Battery reads at 13.5 or better when running. 12 and change when off. Two good batteries have been load tested at local auto parts place (fully charged (per charger readout). tested out of vehicle) and come up good. Removed positive cable and tested for current with car off/key out. Reads 0.15 Amps in this situation. Every fuse has been removed one at a time and replaced (i.e. only one fuse has ever been removed at once) with no change to the 0.15 current flow. Do i need to remove more than 1 fuse at a time to track this down? I assume 0.15 is excessive. Yes? (what does the lcd clock and blinking radio light draw?) When I remove one of the fuses the load increases to about 1.5 amps. this seems odd. Could a bad fuse block cause stuff like this?

Thanks for any help...

Howard

Try disconnecting the hot wire to the alternator and check for current flow. If there is a slight discharge, you have a deteriorating rectifier. The full wave rect. is inside the alternator. Trade it in at Auto Zone.
    Good luck!!! RK

It now reads 00.0 A (on 200 m setting) after my having done nothing. not sure if my previous reply took. 2 days ago it read 0.02 A.

      thanks

I am very curious as to which fuse caused the draw to increase.

Did you try the large fuses?

My 96 850 did something similar. Tracked it to the glove box light staying on. Taped a nickel on the door, and it was enough to shut off the light. No problems in the last couple of years. It was pretty easy to isolate, because it was cold but the bulb was warm to the touch.

With the doors shut and everything off the current drain should be in the range of 0.3 milliamps. Usually battery drains are the glove box lamp staying on but you should be able to determine that by removing the fuse. If no fuses affect the current drain maybe try disconnecting the alternator cables. Could be an internal short.

Did you say current flow increased when removing a fuse? what fuse was that?
    That sounds weird.

.15 Amps is too high a current flow ... thats 150 milliamps.
you should be seeing just a few milliamps .008 +-

Maybe there's a light staying on in the glove box or trunk,

You need to remove fuses one by one and look for the current flow to drop
and once you find the circuit drawing current you can zoom in on the culprit.
It's also possible to have something drawing current in an unfused circuit, which
is usually more challenging to locate.

    Post back with your findings.

    Bill
