recently I had to jiggle ign. key many, many times to turn to start car. getting progressivly worse. please help

Hello, as Klaus mentions lube first, but I have had no luck with that. I have found the the small brass piece inside the lock cylinder wears out and makes turning the cylinder difficult. Order new from Volvo dealer with your VIN number and the job is hard, but doable.

If it is because the key is getting hard to turn, you should first try lubing the lock cylinder.

If the key is easy to turn but the starter doesn't engage, then you could replace the ignition switch. Remove the plastic cover surrounding the steering column, a couple of torx screws, and you will see the ignition switch on the left side of the column.

Had similar symptoms in mine, and the switch replacement fixed everything. Very straightforward fix, easily DIY.
