cd changers S40-V40 2000

I have bought a 6-disc changer for my S40 but I can't seem to find an adapter to make it fit the factory stereo system. I don't want to use the RF unit. The car as been pre-wired for the factory changer and I would like to be able to use these wires. Can someone steer me in the right direction.

Anthony is correct. Peripherals should make an adaptor for the cd changer. I have their website address somewhere in one of the last two issues of MaxPower (u.s. version), if someone finds it before I do please post it.

Re: cd changers S40-V40 2000

I've never seen an aftermarket cd changer that'll work through Volvos head unit as they've pre-planned it that way on purpose, to make you buy their stuff. The DIN cables are always different (not adaptable) and I've seen the same situation with other Euro cars too (BMW, MB).

Almost any aftermarket cd-changer should work BUT it'll have its own remote, not work through the head units controls like an OEM changer.

You can get the Alpine changer (CHMS-620?) to work like an OEM changer using head unit controls.

Try Curcuit City, ask for the VOLIL adapter by peripherals. It's been a year since I got mine. I think this should be right :) It might show up under 1999 Volvos on there list.
