AC schrader valve tool needed 1998

I just found out that the schrader valve for the AC input is leaking. Of course, Volvo is a little different, so I am looking for a valve puller. I guess I will have to go to the dealer for a replacement valve.

No, I do not want to pay someone $200 to vacuum my system, which has just 45 psi, pull and insert a new valve, and add 24oz of R134a. Sounds like overkill to me.

Just point me to the right spot. My auto parts store has valves and pullers but they are not the correct size. (Fits MOST cars).

This appears to be the valve, no? can you not just use a pair of needle nose and pull it out?

Also, it looks like the you have to unscrew the pin first instead of just pulling it out if thats all you're taking off. Perhaps you could get a small circular tube and cut notches on either side to go around the pin allowing you to unscrew it?

Thats the correct part, thanks. It needs an O ring also? I guess I will find out when I remove it.

The valve is screwed into the body with threads on the inside of the stem. I will have to find something small enough to get down in there. Perhaps there is something on my workbench that I can cut up. Too small for needle nose pliers.

If you don't have anything on the workbench, you might try a hobby shop. They'll likely have a carbon fiber tube small enough to fit inside. Shouldn't cost more than a dollar or two.

Some steel tire valve stem caps have the notch cut into them. Maybe a tire shop or even a bike shop will the those or a similar tool

If not, find a piece of tubing that will fit down inside the stem and cut a slot across the end that's wide enough to engage the valve core.
