Just a little clarification, the Accumulator/drier is what gets replaced if you open the system up for a little while (which you would do if you replaced the compressor). The Evaporator is located in the dash and is well over $1000 to replace.

The accumulator isn't expensive, about $35, and should be replaced. The oil level should be checked, and filled if needed.
