ECC ISSUE V70-XC70 1999

Good evening all, a/c worked great driving home home Friday. I turned off the controls when I shut the vehicle off, not knowing after reading the owners manual it states that the a/c works better if it is left on. Today, the compressor only clicked on when the defrost position was selected. I love the V70, but all the electronics is p.i.t.a. What can I do to fix this problem with all the heat in the south? I also disconnected the negative on the battery to reset check engine light, could disconnecting the battery caused my issue?

I hope you already know what the error code was that caused the CEL. Disconnecting the battery is not a good thing to do, the engine management has to 're-learn' your driving habits and you could fail an inspection if the system is not 'ready.'

As to the ECC, correct, always leave the AC on. That allows the blower to come on to help dry the evaporator when the engine is shut off. It sounds like the AC switch needs to be rocked a couple of times and then left in the on position.

Is the orange light on? Do the AC and recirc orange lights blink after engine start? That would indicate a problem and turn off the 'automatic' functions. The blower can still be operated and the AC should still work.

BTW, turning the blower to zero will turn off the AC.

Klaus, I rolled the on button like you said and it worked! The knowledge you have given will never be forgotten, as all of you on the board that has given wisdom to all that is needed. Thanks again!
