Engine Model number S70 1998

How can I determine the engine designation? There are choices between the Volvo B 5254 S, T, T3 and T6 engines. I purchased the car used today, and was surprised that I could not find the designation.

7th and 8th digits also ID the engine variant. 55=B5254S. 53=B5234T3. 56=B5254T, low pressure turbo.

The label with that info should still be on the front timing belt cover. Look for a white label which will have that info typed on it. Write it down if you'ld like because in time, that label will come off.
