When you changed the fluid, did you also change the filter? A clogged filter can slow the pumping of the fluid through the tranny, and cause delayed shift, and resultant clunking. If the filter was changed, then it sounds like a clutch problem.

Same here. I live in hilly Seattle and when the nose is downhill (same effect as braking hard) and I'm doing parking maneuvers, the trans will not catch Reverse when I hit the gas to back up. Then it does catch a half second later after the engine has revved up to 2-3 k RPMs. I'm going to flush trans this weekend because it has the dreaded 'burning smell' (but good color). If this helps I'll post.

My transaxle occasionally mis-behaves that way, too. Usually after a highway drive, then quick deceleration on an exit ramp. It's as if the transaxle doesn't downshift until the accelerator is depressed. It has happened maybe a dozen(?) or so times in 10 months.
