oil consumption 850 94

My 850 has 56000 miles, never used oil till about 49000 then at the rate of a quart/750 miles. Had valve seals and guides replaced at 55600 miles. All was well for the first 1000 miles. Now I am using oil again. About half quart for the last 300 miles. Have any suggestions??? Had work done by a Volvo dealer and have another appointment for Monday. What a frustration.

    I have 168000 mile and no measurable consumption. I would check the obvious first...turbo lines and hoses, common leaks. Pull off a hose from the turbo to the intercooler and look for lotts of oil. A little will always be in there, but at the rate you are going, you will have more than a little. :) Any blue smoke from the car's tail pipe while driving? Fouled or wet spark plugs? Stuttering at low RPM or missing power? Look at these and post the results. If your mechanic replaced seals and guides recently, he should have mentioned any leaks that he saw. Maybe bad valve seats...

    Mmmmm, so much to look at.
