Alpine CD Changer install S40-V40 01

Can anyone tell me what is involved in installing the Alpine CHM-s620-6 CD changer in teh trunk of my S40? The car is pre-wired for the trunk changer. I know I have to buy an adaptor, from where? and then is it simply connect the wires and mount the changer? does my factory head unit control the changer? which buttons?

    The 1/2 page, Peripheral Interface VOLIL manual says it's compatible with SC-710, 810, 811, 813, 815, 816 and 727 model radios, except in S80s. And compatible with Alpine's CHM-S600, 601, 611 and 620 changers.

      so does that mean I plug the VOLIL into the cord thats in the trunk and that all.

        Danny,

        The VOLIL adapter attaches to the cd changer socket on the back of the factory radio, you do not use the Volvo prewire. The adapter cable is about 18 feet long and you run that to the trunk. As Anthony previously posted, the adapter does not work on the 2001 models, so if you have a 2001 you will have to get a changer from Volvo, get an aftermarket head unit, or use an inferior RF cd changer adapter.

          Matt- Thanks for simplifying this for me. How about one of those CD changers that works through the FM on the radio and has a remote control.

          would that work?

            Danny,

            A CD changer with an RF modulator will work fine, it attaches to the antenna lead and you tune your radio to listen to the CD. It does let you play CDs, but at FM radio quality. In my opinion, not worth the money.

    CHM-S620-6 CD changer comes with a cable and mounts. First purchase the VOLIL converter by peripherals then supply it with the correct voltage from one the radio wires. Plug the Din into the back of the radio from the converter, now just hook up the cable from the CD changer to the converter.

    It should work like a charm, use you changer button to switch back to the radio or to each CD. Works like a OEM changer.

    Go to any Circut City, Best Buy or any radio supplier.

      Only works with the 2000 S40/V40
