air conditioning V70-XC70 2001

My air works great on cool days and for about 10 mins. on hot days.
Paid 70$ last week for refrigerant and dye added to system. today told I need a new compressor.
Wondered why it worked well for short period or on cool days was told something about clutch in compressor being bad.
Any less expensive ideas would be welcome.Thank you

Do a search for bread clip. There is an easy way to shim the clutch that you can do yourself. It requires 3 plastic bread clips used to close the loves of bread you buy at the store and some glue.

The clutch plate wears out after a lot of use. The old method was to remove the clutch, take a washer off the back side and move it to the front side so the clutch is once again closer to the compressor. That was a lot of work, removing the serpentine belt and prying off the clutch with a home made tool.

The bread clips will last a few years.

Wow, this breadclip fix is right in my price range!
Will look further into it tomorrow. From what I've seen people are saying there are no pics to show exactly where to put them .Maybe tomorrow I'll find further explanations.
Thanks for the lead.Hopefully this is the fix!
