V50 strut replacement V50

Hello does anyone have any information on RR of front struts on a 2005 V50. I have a clunking sound when going over bumps and the tech suggested changing struts. Thanks

It is not a difficult procedure, but shops sure do like to charge a lot. How many miles on them? If the 'clunk' is only on one side, try turning the large nut on the top of the strut tower clockwise. If it turns easily or doesn't want to spring back, the rubber spring mount bushing has failed.

The labor to replace the bushing is the same as replacing the shock as the spring needs to be compressed and the parts removed. Plus, an alignment afterward.

Hello The car has 97k on it. Which brand of struts would you recommend?
      Thanks

If you like the current ride, go OEM, as they typically last 130K miles. Did you check the spring seat? On my clunker, the spring seat failed and I replaced it for less than $50 + alignment.

          Klaus,
I did check and I need to replace the spring seat. I have 97k on the car so I may just change the struts since I have to remove them anyhow.
          Thanks
