V50 strut replacement V50

It is not a difficult procedure, but shops sure do like to charge a lot. How many miles on them? If the 'clunk' is only on one side, try turning the large nut on the top of the strut tower clockwise. If it turns easily or doesn't want to spring back, the rubber spring mount bushing has failed.

The labor to replace the bushing is the same as replacing the shock as the spring needs to be compressed and the parts removed. Plus, an alignment afterward.
