Hey! I really need help with CD player. 850 93

I know someone out there must have dealt with this. I have factory installed CD changer and I am getting "err 02". There is supposed to be a reset button that can cure this but I can't find it when I pull the radio out of the dash. If you someone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I know I can always count on a fellow owner. Thanks,

ERR-02 answer but what is a ERR-01 850 94

I get a ERR-02 message when the CD cartridge is not in all the way. If the door to the CD changer is closed all the way, you may not be able to get the door open. By using a small screwdriver or the piece of wire, push the cartridge back in. If you are lucky, the code will clear right away. Lately when I have been getting the ERR-02 message, I have had to put in and take out the cartridge a number of times. It is OK to have the stereo on when you do it. When you finally hear the music, you know you are in good shape.

Here is my problem now, yesterday when I was attempting to clear the ERR-02 message, the message changed to ERR-01. Now I am unable to clear the message or get the cartridge out. Any clues?

Re: ERR-02 answer but what is a ERR-01 850 95

I fixed ERR-01 myself and it was the same situation that you have where the cartridge will not come out. The first thing you need to do is make sure the changer is getting power. There's a fused lead (red wire) that needs to be traced. If the fuse isn't blown and you're able to get current on the other side of the wire with a volt meter then proceed with the following- unscrew the 4 bolts that hold your changer to the rear deck. Disconnect the unit. Remove the changer and place it on a clean towel on your kitchen table or another stable surface. Remove the screws on either side, and carefully remove the top of the case to access the inside of the changer. There are additional screws that hold the suspension mechanism to the bottom case, I removed those as well and took the entire changer mechanism out. This is really easy to do, just make sure you keep track of what came from where. Then, using a Q-Tip and some rubbing alcohol, carefully clean the rubber rollers and any other parts of the mechanism that are visibly gunked up. You can actually turn the bottom gears with your thumb and work the changer mechanism up and down. Reassemble the unit in reverse order. Don't reinsert the cartridge until you you have reconnected the wiring. I can't explain why this worked, but when I put the whole thing back together, the problem went away. When you power up the unit for the first time, you'll hear it go through a check where it runs through all 6 discs and resets at #1. Good luck.

Re: Hey! I really need help with CD player. 850 93

I upgraded my sound system the first summer I got the car, and I've got the head unit right in front of me. I see no reset button. However, there is a power supply to the head unit.

You have two options, unplug the power supply to the head unit and wait a couple minutes before plugging in back in. Or disconnect the battery for a couple minutes and plug it back in.

In either case, make sure you have the security code for the head unit.
