96 850 GLT Coolant Change 850 1996

I'm replacing hoses, thermostat and flushing this weekend. any tips to keep in mind when refilling the system to avoid air traps? I remember the 240 I used to keep the upper hose off while I filled the system.

Just did the same thing you are talking about, plus installed a new radiator. This one fills and tops up pretty easy, just take your time and keep your eye on it. Fill as Klaus says and you should be good to go.

It's not really a problem. Fill the system, keep the cap off, run the engine until the thermostat opens (bottle empties), turn the engine off, add some coolant if the bottle is dry (just so that you can see some fluid in the bottle), then squeeze the upper large hose several times to get the air out. Let the engine cool, check the level, and secure the cap.

Don't forget to look for drips. Or over tighten the plastic radiator drain.
