1999 S70 n/a Possible lifter issues.... S70 1999

Hey guys. It's been a while since my last post, but I have been reading a lot here and there. Currently "rebuilding" a used engine for my car. Replacing all of the gaskets and seals except for the valve seals. I purchased a used engine, tore it down to the block (left the pistons in place) and am in the process of putting it back together. Have the head on and in the process of re-installing the hydraulic lifters, I noticed several of them have no play when pressing them down. I've never messed with lifters before and don't really know if they should move down a bit and then recover when pressed or if they should feel solid and not move at all. I'd say 3 or 4 on exhaust side and 3 or 4 on intake side are doing this. Still have the original engine, so I can swap any bad ones out with ones from it, but am unsure which ones to target. I know it would be best to purchase new lifters and not mix-and-match, but I have a pretty small budget and am trying to save all the $ I can. Any advice?

Are these roller lifters ? It is generally a bad policy to swap flat faced lifters between bores due to wear on the cam shaft. I think roller lifters would be more forgiving, but still could have a wear pattern.

Old Chevys have hydraulic lifters that 'collapse' without oil in them. If you set them according to the manual the valves never close when they get oil. Not knowing anything about Volvo hydraulic lifters, your weak ones may be perfectly fine in a running motor.

I honestly don't know. I believe they are hydraulic, since they do seem to have a small spring on the underside of them. That spring will compress on most of them, but not on others. I'm not very familiar with lifters at all, so please don't read this and think I'm an idiot. Just never dealt with them before.
