Left and right side have 20 degree difference V70-XC70 2007

The passenger side AC is just above 40 degrees but the drivers side is just above 60 degrees. I closed the two blend doors by hand that are controlled by the motor on the drivers side. However there is still this 20 degree difference. Do I need to tear the whole box apart to see if the doors have a small gap even when closed?

Thanks for any help.

An AC system should be evaluated by how much the temperature is lowered from intake to discharge.

The dscharge temperature is not a good guide - do you get the same discharge when it is 95 degrees as ween it is 75 degrees?

You may be trying too hard.

Have you considered that the system is over pressurized, you did add 2 cans? Too much R134a can cause a blockage and keep the evaporator starved for gas, to say nothing about blocking the condenser.

There is a label on the top of the strut tower which says how much R134a should be in your system.

      Yes, I added two cans.

I am starting over. It also had been freezing up on the highway.

So I replaced the Expansion Valve and I will replace the pressostat and drier as soon as I figure out how much of the front of the car I need to remove to get to the drier screws. Then I will fill with three cans of r134a.

That's my plan unless someone has a better idea.

Thanks for the comments so far.

My 2003 V70 started blowing warmer on one side compared to the other because of a low refrigerant charge. An evacuation and recharged fixed it.

      Really? How could that be?

I have one of those endoscope cameras ordered. My latest theory is that there is something that fell down the vent and preventing the blend door from closing all the way.

You may be absolutely right about the blend door thing. All I know is that I'm not the first one here on the BB or MVS that experienced unbalanced temp due to a low charge. It must have something to do with the way the gas flows through the evaporator.

I believe there are also situations where the controls need to be recalibrated however I'm not versed on the procedure. Maybe others have done that.
