Key fob programing 850 1996

Found a used key fob for my daughters 96 Turbo Wagon and have not had any success programing. I've read several posts about turning the key off and on five times then leaving it on the fifth time and the security led should flash. Mine never flashes. The only time it flashes is when you lock the car with the key. Is there another procedure ? The key fob I have has the two buttons side by side which seems to be right according to the dealer.
Haven't informed the receiver fcc code yet.

Key fob programing 850 1996

I did a simlar method a few weeks ago on an 850, and 2000 xc70. My lights didn't flash either. But it worked. I'll look and post back.

Good luck.

1
Make sure all doors are closed, as well as the hood. Make sure the tailgate or trunk is locked. Get into the car and lock all doors.
2
Insert the key and turn it from the insertion position (position I) to the "on" position (position II - not the "start" position) five times. In other words, all the dash lights come on, but the engine doesn’t start. When you turn the key to ON the fifth time, leave it there. You have 10 seconds to perform this whole step.
3
Hold down each remote button for a second or two, so the car identifies those buttons as the ones to respond to. If you want multiple remotes to work for that car, you’ll need to hit the buttons on each of them in rapid succession (all within 5 seconds) as well. You can program up to three remotes per car.
4
Get new batteries if the above doesn’t work, and try it again. If you already have new batteries in the remote, then proceed to the next step.
5
Press and hold down the odometer reset button.
6
Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
7
Release the odometer button while the service reminder light (SRL) flashes. Don’t wait until the flashing stops to release the odometer button. If you did that, you waited too long.
8
Turn the ignition off

Ok, pulled the glove box and checked the fcc code aND found that the code on my used key fob does not match. Apparently there are at least two different codes for the remote with side by side buttons. The fcc code I need is CWTTFWBIG.

Received the key fob with the right FCC code. Turned on ignition 5 times leaving it on the 5th and key fob works perfectly. Doors were closed. Never saw the alarm led flash. Purchased mine from Midwest keyless for $9.99 includine shipping and battery! Below is Web address:

www.mwkeyless.org

I think it's better to call customer service when looking for fob as opposed to looking on their site as all fobs are not listed. Great customer service!

Ok, put in battery that works with other remotes and still no go. My service ligHT is on constantly since I can't reset without scanner tool so I would never see it blink. Still tried both methods anyway.
