ECM replacement in 2002 V70 V70-XC70 2002

Hi Henrik,

if the engine don't turns by turning the key, there is a simle way to check, if the starter would.
Just open the front fusebox near the airfilter, look for relais FMA4 (there is a sticker in the topcover of the box), remove it, Ignition off !!!, make absolutely sure to set the gearbox in neutral, take a short wire and connect the 2 bigger contacts in relaisholder at FMA4.
As soon as you get contact, the starter should work. don't hold it too long !!
If the starter is ok, the engine will turn now.
If the engine turns, switch ignition on, connect again, then the engine should start.
If the engine doesn't turn, look for the clamp 50 at the starter solenoid.
It's a known issue to the Plattform, just today i looked for a friends V70R, that won't start anymore.
The friendly stealer didn't find out, why.He searched for 2 days.....
He said, the ring antenna round the ignition-lock or the keys may be faulty.
There was no fault stored in the system.

I put off the wire from the solenoid, cleaned the connector, reconnected the wire (bit tricky) and at every keyturn the R roars :-)
It's just 10 Minutes to go.

By the way, there is no ECM, it is called CEM (Central Electronic Module) and you'll find it left side under the Dashboard.
And the CEM is programmed to the Chassis, only the dealer can program a blank CEM.
Used and not erased CEMs dealers can't program to another car with VIDA/VADIS.
And dealers can't erase a CEM with VIDA/VADIS
So you have to buy an erased CEM (used very hard to find) or a new one....

Regards
traebbe
