Headlights and blinkers, elctrical problem V70-XC70 1998

I have a puzzling electrical problems with my
1998 Volvo v70:

When I turn on flashers all 4 bulbs work fine. They flash.

When I turn on blinkers, none of the bulbs flash.

When I turn on the headlights, nothing happens in front or the back.
If I at this point engage high beam lever they will briefly flash, but not stay on.

All the fuses tested fine.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks...

    Hi,

I know nothing about these new cars above the 240 models.
But I will say, the flashers might be working like they are suppose too.

In most cars, if you step on the brakes the emergency flashers (four bulbs) will stop flashing.
Having the headlights on might do the same thing as they are a heavier drain on the battery and they would also diminish the reason for an emergency signaling.

I guess it might come down to the brains built into the cars to where it seems that the manufacturers do not want us to be able to screw things up. Oh, What fun that used to be! 😀

Still enjoying my 240s that leaves me with some natural surprises as they age even more.
In most cases I can just poke around “straight at the problem” and fix it without a thick owner’s manual written in two or three different languages.

Since all 4 bulbs flash when flashers are engaged that tell me the bulbs are fine, and so are their sockets and connections.
Headlights don't work, and signal lights don't work.
I am thinking maybe the problem is in some relay.
On some cars same relay controls headlights and signal lights.

You checked "All the fuses" ?

        Which fuses specifically?

There are 2 trays of fuses under the hood, with descriptions under the covers.
I checked every one of them since I learned not to trust descriptions.

            Hi Ivan,

Probe the two ATC Fuses for +12 volts at each leg of the fuse with your VOM
with the fuses in place. Use intake manifold for ground.
11C/18 Fuse 18 (Ignition sw "S") check with ignition key in position I and II
11C/26 Fuse 26 (Ignition sw "15I") check with key in position II
The above tests check two ignition switch functions and relay 2/6

Do the two trays of fuses you checked have a number of relays next to them?
Did you check the lower level in the fuse box (11 fuses) ?
Fuse 5 powers the lamp module

The lamp module is in the upper fuse box marked "104 108"
            This may have died.

            Bill
