Side Impact Air Bags...Do I or Don't I? 850 1985

I have recently purchased a used 95 850. I neglected to ask the prior owner if the car has the side impact bags. I know that they were an available option in 95. There is a label on the lower part of the seat that says SIPS Bag. Does this mean that the side bag option was insatalled? Is there any other way to tell? Thanks.

    There should also be a sticker on the front door jamb that has the month and year the bags (or the firing mechanism?) should be replaced (9 or 10 years?). Mine lists the side bags separately. Check your owners manual for more info.

    Yes...it seems that you have them. Another way to make sure is look on the extreme left side of the windshield (toward the bottom left corner)...you should see a little sticker that confirms that...if it just shows the word SIPS then you don't have them. If it also shows a little person with an airbag then you do have them. Of course, if you have an 850 Turbo then it is automatic; they were standard in MY1995.

    Our 95 has side bags and on the seat there is a sticker that says
    SIPS Bag with an icon of a bag coming out of a chair.

    Sounds like you have side air bags.

    I believe they were standard on the '95 turbo? Or at least an option.

    If in doubt call your insurance company and ask them.. they pull all that stuff out of your vin usually.
