Uneven Fron Breakes wear 850 1995

I recently noticed that right side front outer break pad is almost gone, while the left side pad is O.K. I don't feel any pulling to the side while driving or breaking. The rotor wear seems to be about the same for a naked eye, and the car feels fine when using breakes, and they seem to release just fine also.

I ordered 2 rotors and the pads, but would like to know what can cause that uneven wear. I just had an oil changed today, and the mechanic said: "don't worry about it, it happens. Leave it alone".

Tnks for your input!!!!

the right outboard pads always wear down first in L/H drive cars. Dirt from the shoulder gets caught between the pads and rotor causing them to wear faster. Difficulty retracting the pistons is caused by the hydraulic part of the ABS. Typically when 800 series front calipers go bad it's becausethe sliders have seized up. If you bleed the crap out of your brake system it should help with pedal feel. It should be done at least every 2 years or more often if you live in high humidity. The water content of the fluid can cause a number of pedal feel complaints.

I would agree with him.If the car is not pulling then this means that both brakes are working, and if you said they release ok(No binding) then thats fine aswell.

When you change the pads and discs the check the pistion for any sign of seizing or damage etc..

And make sure you put plenty of copper slip on the new pads.

Good luck.

I had a similar problem on my 95 Turbo. When I changed the pads I notices that the Caliper piston was very difficult to compress so I replaced it. The brake felt much better after that. My car did not pull either, just more wear on one side than the other.

did you change the whole caliper or just the piston? I haven't heard of changing pistons alone...
