Is 17mpg low enough to indicate a problem? 850 1995

1995 850 turbo wagon 75k miles mobil 1 oil, tranny fluid, BG MOA & 44k additives

Even when I drive slow, (hard to do, very fun car ;) My mileage is only 17-18 mpg city and 24 highway. Plugs and fuel filter have been done according to volvo schedule.
Thank you
Judd

Is 17mpg low enough to indicate a problem? Do you have larger than stock tires? 850 1995

I get 19 or 20 in mostly city driving, high 20's if doing mostly freeway driving. One thought: if you have larger than stock tires, you are actually going more miles than the odometer says. My 240 actually goes 4% faster (and farther) than indicated due to the tires. I forget the link to the conversion chart.

If your driving in economy mode I'd say your a little under average. If your in sport mode your doing average. Plugs need to be changed every 15,000 to keep performance and mileage up.

A little low for the city, but not so terrible that I wouldn't say it's normal. I get 21/26 pretty consistantly. Heat and humidity can have a bit of and effect too. Maybe you need a new fuel filter filter (probably not the cause, but nice to have...I like to preach about this). Tire pressure?
