ticking noise comming from engine 850

I am getting this constant ticking noise comming from somewhere in my engine. I have been using mid grade fuel, but have recently switched over to premium grade to see if the noise would disappear. It has not.

Another small annoyance i have is that whenever I make a right turn at speeds over 10 mph, I get this weird sqeeking noise comming from somewhere in front of the car.

NimbleBrick,

Can you be a bit more specific as to the location of these noises?

You can tell, from the diversity of responses that you have received, that your question was not specific enough.

In other words, "somewhere" is not specific enough.

ticking noise - injectors (normal)
noise on rt. turn is possibly coming from your blower motor from behind the glove box- I have this for > 1 year so far, but I know it's going (blower motor).

Engine noise may be the injectors...
Front end noise sounds like it may be steering stops. Grease them up and see if it's better.

the ticking cound be coming from your valves/lifters. try flushing your engine with a good flush, then switch to 0-30 or 5-30 synthetic motor oil.
grease your steering stops to get rid of the "strange noise". if that does not work, you probably need to change your end links. (both easy diy stuff)

The noise you are hearing will not go away when you change the oil/ It is caused by the seals for the oil pan. There are quite a few volvos that have this noise and I have made them quieter by changing all the related seals. this is a problem where the seals shrink and then there is air being pushed into the lifters. The good news is that the new seals will cure the problem as they are of a different make up and dont tend to shrink.
If you want more of an explanation on how to go about doing this job let me know.

I would like any information that you can provide on doing this job. I bought the new seals (1993 850), and am planning on doing the replacement soon. Any help would be appreciated.

I hear the ticking noise from the lifters when I start up the engine but it disappears after 10-15 minutes of driving, I don't see any leaks, can this still be a problem with bad seals?

I'm getting the same thing from my '93. It def. continues to click after a good 30 minutes of driving. Any info you can provide about replacing those seals would help.
Thanks,
