Remote starters S70 1998

Anybody have one installed?
I am thinking of having one put in. Is it recommended? I know they don't recommend it on my wifes Audi?

Any input would be gladly appreciated.

Thanks

Do 98's have immobilizers? Has anyone been able to bypass the immobilizer on 99-up cars? I'd rather have a turbo timer instead.

Technoscout S70 1998

Technoscout now sells them cheaply (about $80) and unlike the costlier types that can go as high as $350, these don't replace your existing alarm system. I havent orderd, installed one yet but at that price it's worth a shot. (www.technoscout.com).

Dear John,

Our 1994 855 has a remote start that was installed before we bought the car this past May. The remote start does work well but I can't say we have used the remote start much during the summer. Maybe we will try using the remote starter during the winter.

Robert

JOHN-it will be an electrical nightmare, to install it in your car. It definately will not work with your OEM alarm; so you can either have 2 systems(open you doors with OEM to turn off the alarm) then remote start the car. Or completly dissconnect the OEM and install a completly new remote locking/starting system. the problem is the wiring is complex for most indie installers, and a tech who knows Volvos wiring systems/computer will charge a fortune. Robert's 94-855, probably don't/didn't have a factory alarm or if it does, it don't have the immobilizer built in. I think in MY 97, they installed the immobilizers(at least my 97-854 T5 has it.) Moral is: on the newer computer controlled alarms systems, it's hard to install an aft. mkt. system. good luck, BD

Thanks for the info.
I guess I can live without. Sounds like too much hassle for little reward.

John
