855 tailgate strut removal/replacement 850

Did search, but need a little more info on this procedure.

I got a pair of new struts from IPD, and am trying to remove the old ones.
I got the trim panel taken out, and can clearly see both ends of the old strut.

How do I remove the front-side of the strut end? It doesn't look like I can use
flat/philips/torx screw drivers. Pliers, as volvospeed suggests for sedan strut removal?

Also, how do I take out the rear end? For sedans, it says push it up. Is it same
direction for wagons, too?

Thanks.

Figured it out - was obvious once I looked at the replacement strut. Used a hammer to gently tap the old one out. 1st side took way too long (didn't have the torx bit, fumbled with trims, etc.), but the 2nd side took less than 10 min.
