Would a stereo amplifier destroy my alternator?

I have a question. I don't hear many posts here about alternators failing. Mine just did. I am running approx 750WATTS between two amps in my volvo and was wondering if this could have caused my alternator failure.

Any clues??

No, those alternators do fail on occasion as I've replaced a few w/o added hi-fi amps. My cars have added amps too, enough to seriously lower voltages at cruising speeds and flash the headlights with sub volume up yet have never damaged an alternator.
