Sun roof rattles V70-XC70 2001

Has anyone had a problem with a rattling Sun Roof which the dealer can't seem to fix? Is there a DIY fix? Thanks

    Have seen numerous S-80 and 01 V-70 sunroofs with worn linkage. The roof panel actually moves up and down 1/4-3/8 of an inch. The fix is to remove the headliner and sunroof and replace the sliding mechanism and cables. Time consuming, and there are no instructions other than "remove headliner and sunroof, replace cables" to be found in vadis.

    On my 2001 it's not really the sun roof that rattles but rather the sliding sun blocker. It seems to be very noisy in the fully closed or retracted position due to the handle rattling against the trim. I usually leave it slighly open or not fully closed so the handle does not touch the trim.

      Thanks Norm. I think it is the sun roof. When I put my fingers on it I can make it rattle.

        My sunroof on my 2001 V70 2.4T rattled also. You could make it rattle if you smacked the glass from inside. The dealer replaced the entire slide mechanism and that cured the problem. Mine started about 1 month after purchase of the car...good luck!

            Hi Ed,

            They were very cooperative...but I was very straight forward in wanting them to FIX it and not try any lubricants, tape, bubble gum, etc. I think it is a known problem with some of the slides built early on. It was covered under warantee!
