Replace 98 XC rear brake pads and rotor V70-XC70 1998

Hi, My 98 XC is due for replacing rear brake pads and rotors very soon. I read Bay13's instructions several times. I found my 98 XC has a different brake capliper. It does not have a spring like pointed in the picture. The caliper is made by Girling. It looks similiar to the one in the picture but no springs and holes on caliper.
I would like to know how to replace pads and rotors. What torque should I apply to it?
I am also wondering what aftermarket brakes are good for xc. Any commnets are welcome.
Thanks.
Eric

Replace 98 XC rear brake pads and rotor V70-XC70 1998

Hi Eric, I also have a '98 XC, and have already replaced the rear rotors and
pads a couple of times. While our calipers aren't exactly as shown on Bay13s
instructions(the ones they call out for the XC), you can still use the torque
specs they list for the pad carrier, and caliper slide pins, as well as the
wheel bolts. Our calipers call out replacement pads that already have the
tension spring built onto the pad. Pad replacement is very easy, by itself.
You can just remove the bottom bolt to slide pin and rotate the caliper up
and out of the way. If you are replacing the rotor also, just remove both
bolts to caliper slide pins and tether the caliper to the coil springs temporarily. Be sure to remember to remove the locating pin(10mm)on the
rotor "hat" and make sure the parking brake is not on. If you are concerned
about brake noise etc., be sure to wire brush the contact surfaces of the
pad carrier really good, and then use brake grease to lube those areas on
re-assembly. As for aftermarket brands, I think that rotors I like include
Balo, Zimmerman, and Brembo. Pads, if you can get them, I recommend Textar.
Others are also good, just be sure to "bed" them in properly when new. I
haven't had any vibration problems, unlike with the volvo factory parts.
Steve
