Jammed CD Player? 850

Hi ya'll--

My friend recently jammed up his Volvo 6-CD Trunk Changer in his 850. I believe it's Volvo made and all. What I think happened was that he accidently put TWO CD's into ONE slot, and now the CD's won't even change. It's like the CD system just shutdown. And you can't eject the cartridge either. anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the problem, perhaps how to manually eject the CD cartridge? Thanks!

Richard

Had the same problem on my 94 850. I was getting a code of E1 on the radio display. No one knew what it meant so I dove into myself. I was either going to fix it or replace it. What happened in my case was that two cds tried to play at the same time (not good!) and got jammed when the changer tried to insert them. You will need to remove the changer from the car. You can track the power connection by following the cord into the side panel. Start by removing the changer case. You should be able to see the cassette and the jammed cds. Using a small tool (screwdriver), I was able to slide the cds back into place. This will take a little mechanical ability to figure out how to get to the cds. I took the cds changer just about apart entirely. Good luck!!

this happens to mine fairly regulary - (by the way, 'Volvo made' usually means made by Alpine).

If Bob's trick doesnt work, you can remove the changer, take top and botton casing off, and yo can see the 'eject tab' quite clearly.

I can do it in 20 minutes now! And my changer is factory mounted under the floor (with a lid and space for extra cd's) rather than abouve floor mounted with a plastic cover over it.

Use a drivers licence or credit card, slip it under the cassete about center and push the card in to release the cassete. The release tab is about 2" in. Unload the cassete, re-insert, then hit eject. 9 times out of 10 this does the trick

    Big hammer.

Not sure, maybe if you kill the power to it, then plug it back in it might reset. I'm sure its happened before.
