I have an SC-816 radio/cd that will not accept or play CDs. I've tried the micro switch trick, but the micro switch appears to work properly. By removing the top cover, I can manually feed, load, & eject a CD by turning the gears on the side, but it seems that the CD player does not want to power up. Is there a place that can repair these CD players? Or can someone recommend a alternate radio/cd that fits and works well in an 850.

My dealer offers refurbished units in exchanged for your damaged one for about $150. in exchange. Other dealers probably offer the same program. It would costs about the same to look at and repair your old unit.

Find a Volvo dealer and ask.

i changed mine with a pioneer 9400 series unit. that is because i do not care what brand it is as long as it works if and anytime i want to use it. plus i like the 200 watt mosfet power. also, the steering wheel mounted remote is a nice big plus. i also connected it to a pioneer changer in the trunk
