Hello,
It's time for me to replace pads/rotors. I noticed when looking at FCP Groton I can get Volvo Rotors for $60 or Zimmerman rotors for $32 (this is for the front). I believe Zimmerman actually makes the Volvo rotors, so is their any reason I should spend $60 dollars for the Volvo rotors? Also most online sites are unclear about the break pads they are selling (however FCP Groton says Volvo OEM pads). Who actually makes the OEM pads? If anyone has suggestions on where to buy online, etc. Let me know. I also noticed my left rear wheel gets really hot, I don't here a noise, however I suspect some brake component (a piston? in the caliper may have seized). I have seen posts about seized pistons and strangely it appears to happen on the left rear of the 850. I suspect at this point I will buy front/rear rotors and pads. (I have a 1995 854T, currently has 92500 miles on it). I purchased the car with 57000 miles on it and have never had any break work done since purchase (hasn't needed any work)
At the same time I am going to replace the PNP switch, since my car doesn't like to shift out of first gear in cold weather, also believe I have no backup lights..shifts fine otherwise, can start out in 3rd and after a few minutes I have no shifting problems. I haven't had the 313 code, however after pushing the card hard in first gear I was able to get it to report a 322, but I think that was more my doing, reset codes and all is well currently. I flush the transmission regularly and have never had any shifting problems, so I doubt the transmission is bad.
