I read somewhere (Bay 13?) that a hose clamp (plastic pliers) is needed to prevent dirty fluid entering the ABS. Is that really true? I don't see why it is necessary if the pressure is on and the bleeder valve is open (or closed).

I believe what you are referring to is clamping off the brake line when removing the caliper for service/replacement.

Clamping off thebrake line in this instance would prevent the fluid draining out from the master cylinder and lines.

You obviously would not be able to bleed the brake lines if they were clamped off !

I use a pressure bleeder and have never clamped anything.
Just turn the nipple and let the old fluid run out.

I havent seen what's written at Bay13 on that but there's nothing complicated or tricky about bleeding brakes with a power bleeder on ANY car. We use a power bleeder that fits at the top of the master cyls fluid resevoir (not the vacuum type) and it uses a pressurized canistor filled with brake fluid. All that one needs to do is open the bleeders and let the fluid run out until clean fluid is seen, no big deal. A vacuum type bleeder at each wheel would also work OK if that's the prefered method.
There's no need to do anything special just because it's got ABS.

I have question if I were to replace the brake lines, how would I do this ? I understand the bleeding process. Is there any danger of damaging the abs module ? I also need to replace the junction valve ? Should i replace the valve first ? or the lines ? I think i will get air in the system either way any suggestions ? I am geeting the bleeder from IPD.

If you're going to buy a power bleeder, get the
one from Motive Products, it's the f*****
best one for the price! This is my advice.
