problem w/850 radio 850 1997

I have a Volvo 850, and the battery died last week (by the way, that Volvo OE battery lasted longer--5.5yrs--than any US or Japan car I have ever owned).

Of course, the radio locked up and I had to enter the code. The code supplied was wrong, and I had to call the dealer twice to get the right code.

Radio now comes on and will play CDs and tapes, and my preset radio stations are still there. However, I get NO reception on any station. Its as if I have no antenna. Previously, even if the antenna didnt go up, I would get some stations.

I have no idea why my radio won't pick up any stations now.

Any advice or suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

RobT

Did you ever try to pull the radio out? You may have dislodged the antenna plug.

Some models have some hidden setings that could affect
reception. Perhaps some settings went back to stock.
See:

http://www.monmouth.com/~rothe/sc816.html

It describes an SC-816 from a 70 series and I think that is
basically the same as SC-815 in the 850s (since you have a CD
you probably have the 815).

If you have an 855 I can all but promise you your FM wire's hoz'd about the point where it goes into your tailgate.

Have your dealer fix this. Messy job, painful and they've done it before, i can all but promise.
