O2 Sensor and Strut Mount Help 850

I have a '95 850 GLT the Check Engine light came on and the dealer wants $600 to replace the Oxygen sensors. Can I purchase aftermarket sensors, or do I have to stick to Volvo original parts at a premium price? Also, how difficult is it to replace the O2 sensors?

Additionally, the dealer wants $350 to replace the front strut mounting kit - the left front-end makes noises when I hit a rough patch. Do I need to replace the entire mounting kit, or just the spring seat? Also, how difficult is it to replace, and will I need special tools? - I'm not much of a mechanic!

I live in Northern NJ, can someone recommend a good Volvo mechanic?

they are probably thinking of replacing both sensors. both sensors very rarely go bad. the front usually need replacing. how many miles on your car anyway? it might just be a vacuum leak/s. if the error code is for both sensors, there is a very good chance that it is just a vacuum leak.

I replaced the fron on my 95 for under $120 from FCP groton. volvospeed.com has the instructions on their web page, you should be able to do it in under 30 minutes. I used a 22mm wrench and had no probs. Chuck.

Go to www.thepartsbin.com They are located in NJ, and offer Bosch O2 sensors at fair prices. Buy a good set of ramps and a wrench to fit the sensors. Plan on about an hour of time for two sensors and maybe (guess) $250 in parts. Remove the connection under the hood after palcing the car on ramps. Block wheels, crawl under and remove the two sensors. Rout wires back up to the engine bay. Connect the sensors. Pocket the rest of the money and enjoy your favorite beverage afterwards on a job well done.

Replaced the single sensor on my 93 in about 20 minutes and $112.00 for parts.
