How many miles is too many to get chipped? 850 1995

Just wondering what is a good mileage to get chipped. I want to make sure I don't have too many. I know chipping will put alot more stress on the engine, drivetrain and accessories. I'm getting a much better/higher paying job in May and I've decided to get chipped with an IPD and new full exhaust then. Right now I have 48k miles, and I'm guessing by May I'll have 53k or 54k. Is that ok? I'm running synthetic (Mobil 1), and the tranny is in great shape.

try posting at volvospeed.com message boards, a lot of people over there have chips. i think the most important thing is that the engine is in good shape, rather than how old it is
