Whenever I apply my brakes even moderately hard the car starts violently shuddering. I thought it must be the front brakes as the dealer had told me that they were past their best on the last service, I therefore ordered and have had fitted new rotors (brembo) and new pads (PBR) on the front and the car still shudders. Both the rotors and the pads look fine on the rear. Anyone got any bright ideas.

Sim the rear pads with Vovlo shims and lots of lube. No more Shudder. I wet through the same thing. The shims are $12.00 at the dealer and the lube is $3.00 at Kragens, automart, etc. They install with the cutout arrow facing a certain direction so ask the dealer. I forget

Thanks for your suggestion but I would not have thought that it would have started suddenly about three weeks ago. I would also have thought that you would have felt the warp through the brake pedal during very light braking. I can brake lightly and it makes no noise or any pulsing through the brake pedal, it is only when I brake moderately heavily or above that I feel the violent shuddering.

My son's 850 did the same thing - very strong vibration under hard braking. No other symptom that I can remember. I found on this board that vibration from warped rear rotors is a common problem and it doesn't always feel like it is coming from the back. New pads and rotors fixed it.

You might want to search the archives - there have been lots of discussions about rear rotors. Or you could just replace them - they don't last forever and it won't hurt anything.
