engine oil leak 850

Hi to all
I was changing the oil on my aunts 850 glt and there are oil leaks all over. Oil is ozzing out the dipstick stalk base and oil is coming through the filler cap but the seal is perferct. Does this engine have a problem like the b230f with the flame trap which makes crankcase pressure builts up and cause seals to leak
thanks

It does if it is not a turbo. I don't remember when they started badging the low pressure turbo as a GLT.

The flame trap is located behind and to the right of the throttle body and is attached to the air hose a few inches before the throttle body. The housing has two rubber hoses, one 1/4" and one 5/8" or so. The housing twists out like a light bulb, exposing the flame trap. I believe it is the same one used in the B230F. It has been awhile since I had one of those. Be careful not to lose the large rubber gasket that fits between the hose and the flame trap housing.

I remember reading where it is suggested not to remove the hoses that attach to the flame trap housing but I do and haven't had a problem in over 8 years. You can find specific directions at volvospeed.com. Click on repairs/maintenance and enter Bay 13, select engine and scroll down to flame trap for a NA engine.

    Good luck.
