Brake Light Failure 850

All of my brake lights in my WGN are not working and neither is the failure indicator. I have replaced both lights and the tailight was replaced about a year ago, the fuse is good...I have seen from other boards this could be the relay. Any diagrams up on the web? Is this fairly easy for a rookie?

check the brake pedal switch under the dash, mine is intermittent, pound on the brake pedal a few times and it will work on mine for a few presses, then it quits again. Replcing mine tomorrow- hope this helps

Thanks Nixlo, let me know if replacing it helps and I'll try it out. Any tips on replacing the switch would be much appreciated too.

Yes, the brake switch under the pedal is a common replacement item after 6 years. The symptoms you describe (no brake lights and no bulb out indicator) point to the switch. As I remember, you just turn the switch about 30 degress and then you can remove it. You do need to be positioned in a somewhat awkward position to access by the brake pedal and you will need a light. There are 2 switches on the brake pedal. One for the transmission interlock and one for the brake lights. Listen for the tranny interlock while pressing each switch to determine which one is controlling the brake lights.
