Brake Light Failure 850

Yes, the brake switch under the pedal is a common replacement item after 6 years. The symptoms you describe (no brake lights and no bulb out indicator) point to the switch. As I remember, you just turn the switch about 30 degress and then you can remove it. You do need to be positioned in a somewhat awkward position to access by the brake pedal and you will need a light. There are 2 switches on the brake pedal. One for the transmission interlock and one for the brake lights. Listen for the tranny interlock while pressing each switch to determine which one is controlling the brake lights.
